Why Should you Choose Fire and Ice ?
Why should you trust us?
What's in it for you?
What's in it for us?
When it comes to diamonds, the lowest price is rarely the "best deal." Two 1-carat diamonds with the same 4 Cs (cut, color, clarity, and carat weight) can be worth very different prices. In fact, they can differ in value by as much as $3000 even if both are selling at the same store with the same markup!
Only an honest, expert diamond consultant will make sure a price is fair for the exact quality of diamond you want. You will find that a Fire and Ice Diamond Consultants no-pressure, educational approach will make your shopping experience easy and fun, all while receiving top customer service and top value for your money.
Jewelers will always find a way to fool you no matter how much you know. If they only have their immediate profit on their mind, they can find a way to cheat the best of us.
On the other hand, an honest, far-seeing gemologist or consultant will give you top value for your money, no matter how little you know. FireandIce consultants know the value of building a long-term business based on enthusiastic customers that tell their friends. No matter how long you own your diamond, everything you find out will only prove more and more that you got a great deal. They do whatever they can to gain your trust and confidence, because it's in their best interest to have a strong, positive reputation, and to build that reputation by giving deals that prove their value over time. In exchange when it comes time for you to make a recommendation, they hope that you'll refer them to Fire and Ice, and hopefully we'll recognize their hard work and dedication. They want your business for life, not just for one purchase. So it is the intention of the jeweler that makes the difference, not the reputation they can buy with ads on the TV or radio or newspapers.
Next, we all know that a low price is nothing without good quality. So, if you are not getting what you ask for (if they are making untrue claims about a diamond's quality, etc.), then you are not getting good value even though it might sound great. Integrity again is more important than the claims they are making. But you cannot trust everyone to tell the truth about diamond quality. In fact, it is just the opposite; most claims about diamond quality are exaggerated. Or if they tell you the truth, they don't tell the whole truth. Most of the time, they leave out important details like the subtle details of the cut grade or fluorescence which can make all the difference between a great deal or a bad one. You can't even trust the certificates, because the graders may not have certified the diamond properly in the first place.
Another issue is diamond grading, which goes way beyond the 4 Cs that some jewelers would like you to rely on. To get top value, you need to go beyond the usual 4 Cs. Think about the other 13 diamond criteria listed on a diamond certification. Without comparing every one of the 13 factors and other details like the lab that performed the certification, and when they did it, you will likely pay too much for your diamond engagement ring. No two diamonds are exactly alike, so please, please, please be careful about comparing diamonds and prices until you read all the info on our site.
A good jeweler doesn't have everything, but they can order anything. That is what sets them apart from jewelers that only want to sell what they have in stock, to make an instant profit at your expense. The good jewelers have the kind of credit rating in the trade that allows them to buy anything from anyone, and those are the only stores you want to do business with. Anyone without a good reputation in the trade should not have a good reputation with you either.
If you find a seller who says they will see about ordering a diamond, it is actually a good sign, not a weakness. They want to sell you what you want. Stores that redirect you to something else in their inventory, especially a used diamond with a deteriorated polish, are not where you want to do business. Of course, sometimes you find a great store has what you want in stock, so don't overdo it, but it is better to start with the expectation that you may need to special-order the diamond your loved one may want. If they happen to have exactly that in stock, nothing less, then great!
One of the most common questions we at Fire and Ice receive is:
"How do you recruit your staff to find the real gemologists and diamond consultants?"
One wrong answer in an interview, and we say that we have decided that, “You are not a match.” Many fail the knowledge test; others fail the pricing test, others answer emails too slowly, others exhibit evidence of poor customer service. Then we track customer feedback and eliminate any jewelers with poor service records after the sale or any trouble honoring guarantees and refunds, etc. Over time, the list gets smaller and smaller. In the end, we are left with a handful of jewelers across the country, which has been very frustrating for us. We thought we would find a lot more to pass. But the ones that do pass are extraordinary, and serve as the best stores to use as benchmarks to compare anyone else you might find on your own.
